     I have been teaching mathematics and coaching since 1992 when I was awarded my Bachelor of Science degree from Winona State University with a major in Mathematics Education as well as a minor in Statistics and Coaching.

     I was awarded my Masters of Arts in Education degree in Teaching and Learning from Saint Mary’s University in 2003. I was awarded my Masters of Arts in Leadership degree in Athletic and Activity Administration from the University of St. Thomas in 2011.

 

     Most recently I was elected to the Robbinsdale Area School Board in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. During 2016 & 2017 I served as the Clerk. I am currently serving as the Chair (2020-   ).

Robbinsdale Area Schools, New Hope, MN

​2015 - present

 

    In 2014 I ran and was successfully elected to the School Board of Robbinsdale Area Schools.  I was seated in January of 2015, and in January of 2016 I was selected to be the Clerk and remained in that position through 2017. In 2018 I was re-elected to the School Board. In 2020 is was elected as the Chair of the Robbinsdale Area School Board.

     During my first 2 years on the Board we hired a new Superintendent and opened two new schools. I serve on the Community Education committee, Communications committee, Long-Term Facilities committee, Redesign committee, and a Community Connect committee to which I chair.

Edina Public Schools, Edina, MN

​2005 - present

 

     Since 2005 I have been teaching mathematics at Edina High School.  I served as Area Leader from 2009-2013 overseeing hiring, scheduling, and budgeting.  After implementing the AP Statistics course in the 2008-2009 school year I have consistently had at least 88% of my students earn a 3 or higher on the AP exam each year. I have been trained in developing a Culturally Responsive Classroom via the National Urban Alliance.  I have also been trained in Personal Learning Communities via Solution Tree.

     From 2007-2018 I coached Track & Field and was named the Head Boy's Track & Field Coach in 2011. In 2016 the team won the Lake Conference Championship, finished 2nd in Section 6AA, and finished 2nd at the MSHSL Championship meet. In 2017 the team finished 1st in Section 6AA, and finished 2nd at the Class AAA True Team State Championships. I was named the Section 6AA Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2017.  From 2012-2018 I was an assistant coach with the Boy's Cross Country team that won the State Championship in 2018 and finished 2nd in 2012, 2013, and 2016 at the State Meet. In 2019 I was certified by the MSHSL to be a Track & Field official and officiated at the State Meet in 2019.

     As the Boy's Sports representative for our local union I have been a member of committees to restructure the extra-curricular salary schedule and redevelop the mission statement of the Activities Department. I have also been the Section 6AA Sports Delegate to the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association (MSHSCA) since 2017, and have also been serving on the Minnesota State High School League's (MSHSL) Track & Field Advisory Board since 2018.

​1999 - 2005

 

     From 1999-2005 I taught mathematics at Robbinsdale Cooper High School.  I served as Department Chair from 2001-2005 overseeing hiring, scheduling, and budgeting.  I lead the department in the implementation of an AP Statistics course. I was trained in the International Baccalaureate MYP and HL Mathematics programs.

     As the jumps coach for the Track & Field team from 2000-2006 (co-head boys in 2005) we had success with individual state champions, two section championships in 2001 and 2003, and a 5th place finish with the girls team at the MSHSL State meet in 2006. I also assisted with the Boy's Basketball team from 1999-2001.

     Having only taught for one year at Mankato West High School I did have the opportunity to lead the department in the Applied Math curriculum.

     I did have the opportunity to coach and assist with the Girl's Basketball team (assisting with our now current Governor, Tim Walz). I also assisted with the Boy's and Girl's Track & Field teams as the jumps coach.

​1996 - 1998

 

     During the two years that I taught and coached at LaCrosse Central High School I was given the opportunity to write curriculum for the Applied Mathematics program and lead the department in the Consumer/Business Math program.

     I did have the opportunity to assist with the Boy's Basketball team from 1996-1998 and both the Boy's and Girl's Track & Field teams as the jumps coach in 1998.

​1993 - 1996

 

    At Winona Cotter High School I was given the opportunity and support to develop my initial skills in the classroom as well as on the athletic and activity venues.  I was given the opportunity to lead the school in developing a Statistics curriculum (prior to the existence of an AP course).  I was also given an opportunity to lead in the use of technology in the classroom and attended and presented at local and state conferences.

     I coached with the Football team, the Girl's Basketball team, and the Boy's & Girl's Track & Field teams.  I assisted with the Football team in 1993 as an assistant to the offensive coordinator.  I assisted with the Girl's Basketball team from 1994-1996 as the Sophomore coach.  I assisted for one season with the Boy's and Girl's Track & Field teams in 1994 and was the Head Boy's and Girl's Track & Field coach for the 1995-1997 seasons. In 1996 the boy's team won the Hiawatha Valley Conference Championship and finished 2nd in Section 1A. In 1997 the Boy's team finished 4th at the MSHSL State Meet and I was named the Section 1A Coach of the Year. I also coordinated a MSHSL initiative, "Target" that encouraged and supported student athletes and their efforts to be committed to a chemical free lifestyle.

Earned a Master's of Arts degree in Leadership in Athletic and Activity Administration.  Intern experiences were with the Minnesota Vikings Kid's Club, NCAA Women's Division 1 Basketball Tournament, the Minnesota NSC Stars soccer club, the National Sports Center USA Cup and Edina High School.
